Most people have an interest in knowing what the weather will be like in the coming days. Everyone is affected by it. Some businesses depend on accurate weather forecasts to make crucial decisions. Regardless, if you want or need to know what the weather will be like tomorrow or in the next few days, we’ve analyzed the past year of accuracy and skill of weather forecasts for 599 locations across Europe.
For overall average forecast accuracy for high temperatures, low temperatures, and precipitation, accuracy was highest across the Azores, Faroe Islands, western portions of Ireland and the United Kingdom, the southwest Iberian Peninsula, northwest France, Belgium, coastal Norway, Iceland, and the Mediterranean coast.
The lowest accuracies were found in northern Scandinavia and the inland areas around the Alps and eastern Europe.
The change in total forecast accuracies since 2022 are as follows. A slight increase was evident across a good portion of Europe north of the immediate Mediterranean coast and south of Scandinavia. A slight decrease in forecast accuracy was seen across parts of Iceland, northern Norway, northern Sweden, Finland, and western Russia.
