What is the ENWFC?

This European Nowcasting & Weather Forecasting Conference focuses on the intense and rapidly evolving field of nowcasting and short-range weather forecasting, where the goal is to provide high-resolution updates for weather events occurring within a zero to twelve-hour timeframe. It serves as a critical platform for discussing the latest advances in seamless forecasting techniques, high-frequency data assimilation, and the revolutionary impact of artificial intelligence on predicting localized phenomena such as convective storms and urban flash floods. By bringing together the brightest minds in short-range NWP, the event ensures that the newest tools for rapid-response forecasting are thoroughly vetted and shared across the European and international meteorological communities.

Who goes to the ENWFC?

The meeting is primarily attended by a dedicated group of research scientists, operational forecasters, and end-users from sectors that require high-precision, short-term weather data, such as aviation, renewable energy, and urban emergency management. These participants are joined by innovative data scientists and AI researchers who are currently redefining the boundaries of what is possible in high-resolution meteorological modeling through the use of deep learning and ensemble prediction systems. It is the “must-attend” event for professionals who work in time-sensitive environments where even a minor improvement in the accuracy of a short-range forecast can have a massive impact on safety and operational efficiency.
